What’s in store for 2022?

I thought I would give the inside scoop on what’s happening at My Little Black and White House this year.

Are you a list maker? Do you need to have a plan for your projects? I have so many plans for our home this year I need some way to keep myself in check. But with all those lists, and things to do, the most important thing I’m doing is trying to make this house a home. I want you to come visit and think, Wow! This home is so cozy and so fresh. So in every project, right down to the details, my goal is to create a cozy home for us and our visitors.

The biggest project we are tackling, actually started last summer.

THE KITCHEN.

Yup, that’s the before photo. The day we took possession late July 2021. And we immediately ordered our new appliances , because you know the struggle of getting these darn appliances this year. Months and months of waiting. Here we are in mid January, and they still have not arrived. We have been notified they will start trickling in this month. One. At. A. Time.

Being the girl that I am, the kitchen was designed months in advance, at least in my head and on my Pinterest board (insert laughing emoji here) And if you look at the photo you can see why. Although the craftsmanship is apparent, and this was by all means, the top of the line kitchen in 1994, it just doesn’t work for our family. The function is just not there. and it is not my style...at all.

The appliances are original, the floors are original, the sunshine ceiling is original, the pink countertops are original... its all original, except for that island which they must’ve added somewhere along the way.

And can we talk about the backsplash? WOW. That’s all I’m going to say.

So we finally ordered our cabinets mid August I believe. I’m losing track of things, or maybe I’m just losing my mind after all these months of kitchen designing. This was the moment I was waiting for. And I still waiting. But that’s how things are these days. If you don’t have patience, don’t take on any renovations. Just don’t! It’s been hard but I, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

WE HAVE A DATE! That’s right, we have an install date. Write this down, because its what Ive been waiting on since we purchased this house. February 21, 2022. The cabinets will be going in.

But until then we are prepping. Demo starts Thursday. That includes the entire kitchen , all being donated to local company called Home Reusables. They do all the removal and then they resell the cabinet at a great price. I have purchased a lot of home Ron materials from them in the past. It’s usually my first stop when doing any DIY.

Do you see that corner planters and coffered ceilings? They’re going. The new cabinets are going right to the ceiling and that pantry is a wasted space as it doesn’t function the way we would like. So its going. The sunshine ceiling... also going. The plan... you’ll just have to wait and see, I don’t want to give it all away just yet.

This our mud room, right off the garage and the entrance into the kitchen. It’s no longer going to be a mud room. For years and years I have dreamed of my perfect kitchen. I made a list. Yes, another list, of all the things I wanted in my future kitchen. Some of those things that were added have changed along the way. But I have never steered off course when it comes to having a real Butlers Pantry. So you’ve guessed it. That is now going to be our butlers pantry. What a dream.

This will house all things food and kitchen storage, as well as we’ve added a cleaning closet to house the vacuum and a set of cabinets that will hold our seasonal coats. So its multi functional. Are you enjoying the pink tiles and counters? Me neither.

Are you getting excited yet? I’m so ready for it. And that’s only the first project we are working on this year. its only the beginning.

Next on our project list for 2022,

MAIN FLOOR HALF BATH.

Where do I begin?

Let’s talk about the floors. These floors are throughout our main floor, and I actually like them. The problem is they were neglected and cannot be repaired. So we are getting new LVP Floors throughout our entire home. I have designed this bathroom with a gorgeous tile wall, floor to ceiling, a new vanity, sink and countertop. As well as a new faucet, sink and toilet. Oh, and that light fixture has to go. Its a small bathroom next to the guest room, so its gotta be fabulous, and boy is it going to be!

So since were talking main floor...

THE LIVING ROOM

Now truth be told this room is already painted. I couldn’t stand this green. By painting this room white it brightened the entire space. but you’ll never guess what happened. Painting is like opening Pandoras Box. You never know exactly what its going to look like. So after the walls were freshened up, we discovered the ceiling was pink. Yup, PINK. So thankfully my beautiful freind Kthellen drove all the way from Saskatchewan to help this girl out. So every ceiling in this house is now white.. thank goodness.

There’s nothing better than a freshly painted house. The smell.. it’s like a new car smell. Delicious.

This fireplace is getting a complete makeover this year as well. Although I did DIY the fireplace in the fall, I knew it was a temporary fix. This room is going to be spectacular.

Ok, I’ve rambled enough for one day. My fingers are tired of typing, as I sure your eyes are form reading. So lets break this post up into a few posts. So tune in to see what’s other projects we have in store this year for The LittLe Black and White House.
